CAMREC Ponderosas
Deepen roots. Tend our shared spaces. Help CAMREC thrive.
CAMREC Ponderosas is a community of people who help sustain Camp CAMREC through financial contributions, volunteer service, or a combination of both. Just as the native ponderosa pines at different stages of life contribute to our healthy forest ecosystem, our camp and community flourish when people come together to care for this special place
As Camp CAMREC approaches the 60th anniversary of its dedication in 2027, we are grateful for the generations of individuals, families, and churches whose dedication and generosity have sustained us. We are also excited to see increasing interest from individuals and groups beyond the Washington Mennonite Fellowship who have come to love CAMREC and want to contribute to its care. CAMREC Ponderosas honors the many hands that continue to care for CAMREC year after year while creating new opportunities for others to get involved and help CAMREC thrive.
These are suggested annual participation levels per household, not requirements. Financial contributions and volunteer service can be combined. For a combination, count each day of volunteer service toward approximately $100 of the suggested annual level. Every gift of time or money helps!

or ~1 day of service

Where Your Financial Contributions Go
Community members can choose to designate their financial contributions toward an area of CAMREC’s mission that is meaningful to them, including:
- Operating Fund – Supporting CAMREC’s day-to-day operations, programs, and facilities.
- Summer Camp Scholarships – Helping make camp accessible to children and families.
- Forest Stewardship – Caring for CAMREC’s forests and natural environment.
- Endowment Fund – Providing long-term financial stability for future generations.
- Other – Any specific area or project of your choosing.
** The last two years, nearby wildfires have forced CAMREC to suspend operations for over over a month each year, resulting in lost revenue. Contributions toward Wildfire Revenue Recovery would help offset these losses and would be much appreciated! **
Opportunities to Serve
There are many ways to help care for CAMREC! Whether you have a few hours, a weekend, more than a week, or a desire to serve regularly, your time and talents make a difference.
- Spring Gathering – Join us for a weekend of indoor and outdoor projects to care for CAMREC’s land and facilities. The weekend also includes our annual meeting, where we reflect on the past year and plan for CAMREC’s future activities and priorities.
- Fall Gathering – Spend a weekend helping prepare CAMREC for winter through indoor and outdoor projects, including splitting firewood, deep cleaning, maintenance, and repairs.
- Summer Program Volunteer – Sign up for a volunteer slot during summer camp! We have many roles to choose from, including nursing, music, kitchen help, and activity leadership.
- Monthly Trail Work Days – Join us on the third Saturday of every month (April – October) for a day of trail maintenance and forest stewardship. A fun opportunity for visitors from afar and local community members to work together while caring for CAMREC!
- Flexible Volunteer Opportunities – Serve at a time that works for you, through short-term projects or ongoing commitments.
